Q. Who is The Jordan Foundation?
A. The Jordan Foundation was started in 2001 by Steve and Ginny Cleary of Portland, Maine. The Cleary’s met Dr. Job in 1990 and have been close friends ever since. His unbridled passion for expanding the gospel of Jesus Christ, and his ‘just do it’ attitude is what first impressed the Cleary’s about Job.

They worked together through the years, and then saw him go through the biggest trial of his life – the murder of his son because of his Christian activities. As they encouraged Job through his pain and sorrow, the Cleary’s were always inspired by his unwavering, steadfast faith that kept on proclaiming and lifting up the name of Christ no matter what the cost.

The Cleary’s launched The Jordan Foundation in 2001 – and as Job began to fulfill a new vision of building an orphanage for girls of Christian Martyrs, the Cleary’s knew they had to help. Funded bt the Cleary's businesses, the Foundation has been blessed to put more then $160,000 toward the building of the Orphanage.

A. The Jordan Foundation's mission regarding the Michael Job Center is to assist the Center in funding (Jordan Foundation Stadium) and marketing, and to fund projects with the long term goal of building up an endowment for future girls.

Q. How did the Michael Job Center begin?
A. The Michael Job Center was started in 2001 by Dr. PP Job, an internationally known Evangelist, Preacher and Missionary to the persecuted church. The home was built in memory of Dr. Job’s martyred son, Michael. In 1999 an attempt was made on Dr. Job’s life by radical Hindus in India, who did not like his Christian work and influence. In June of 1999, following the failed attempt on Job’s life, radical Hindus killed his 21 year old son, Michael by running him down with a car where he studied at a medical school.

The following year, a plot of land was donated in Coimbatore for a possible future orphanage. With no idea of God’s planning, Dr. Job proceeded to accept the small, seemingly worthless plot which didn’t even have fresh water (salt water only), and no access to electricity. A small home was erected and 30 children of persecuted and martyred Christians were taken in. Shortly after, God miraculously provided fresh water, full electricity and enough concrete to build a large chapel, and a school building! Adjoining plots of land were secured, and a 5 acre soccer stadium was added.

Now  the Center stands as a testimony of God’s incredible love and provision with over 50 acres of land, the original home, a new home, the chapel, stadium, school, and 2 new college buildings. Currently more than 300 beautiful daughters of persecuted and martyred Christians make up the Michael Job family, and many more are on waiting lists throughout the Indian subcontinent.

Q. What is a main goal of the Michael Job Center?
A. One of our main goals is to someday rescue 1,000 daughters of persecuted and martyred Christians and to bring them up in the ways of the Lord, and educate them so when they leave they will have a college degree in one hand, and a theological degree in the other. It is our vision that many of these girls will return to their home states to work and spread the Gospel of Christ in honor of their parents before them. At the Center, we also occasionally take in other orphan girls who do not come from a persecution situation.

Q. How is this sponsorship different than others?
A. At the Michael Job Center, we are not merely offering community support programs to children in poor areas, which is the main goal of most reputable child sponsor agencies. What we offer is far more intensive, because the girls are adopted as our own children. That means we provide everything for them, including 3 nutritious meals a day, clothing, a top notch education that will allow them to go where ever they want to in life, sports opportunities, full medical care and opportunities for fun and enjoyment. What we offer our girls is what every parent strives to provide for their own children. Other sponsor agencies support children who live with their families, and use the support money to improve the quality of their lives.

Q. Are any of the girls up for adoption?
A. No, not at this time. Adoption as an industry is a completely different ballgame, and it was not Dr. Job's main mission to start an adoption agency. The main goal for the Michael Job Center is to bring these girls in and raise them - not as orphans [like so many other poor and ill-treated orphans all across India]- but as Daughters of God, and - as his own daughters. His desire is to provide them with the best of everything - food, education, physical and spiritual upbringing, etc..- so that they gain a deep understanding of their worth in the eyes of God, and the purpose He has for them. There are sadly a lot of orphanages across India who take children in under the name of God and treat the children as sub-standard citizens [and often much worse], while the Overseer and his family eat the best rice, the children get the cheapest rice, etc.. so they end up much of the time becoming enemies of the Gospel. The second goal of the orphanage is to stand as a beacon of light and hope in a dark land, and to stand as a testimony of how we should act and treat these children as Christians. The third goal is that many of these girls will graduate with a theological degree in one hand, and a university degree in the other, and go back to their home lands and influence their cultures for the better!

Q. Why only girls?
A. In India, girls are not as desirable as boys because of the dowry system. Parents of girls are expected to pay a sizable amount of money [dowry] to the family of the man she marries, and that causes a lot of girls to be aborted, or abandoned early in life. Girls who are orphaned have no options, and Christian girls especially have limited hope for a successful life. At the Michael Job Center our girls are all taught that they have value in the eyes of God, and that God loves them and desires to use them to spread His message of love to the world.
